WHY OSHP?
In the contemporary landscape of organizations, businesses, and companies, the importance of managing occupational safety and health (OSH) is paramount. This discipline is crucial not only for maintaining the integrity of the workforce but also for ensuring the ongoing operational resilience of our organizations. It is a field that has historically been the purview of specialists; however, managers at all levels must now be conversant with the myriad threats that OSH incidents pose. They need a thorough understanding of how to prepare for, prevent, mitigate, and respond to a wide range of disruptions that can affect workplace safety and health.
Traditional incident management responses often fall short in addressing the complex nature of modern OSH incidents. Hence, there is a growing need for a more nuanced understanding, analysis, and application of strategies to ensure that OSH incidents can be prevented or, when they do occur, responded to with adequacy and precision.
OSH incidents have the potential to severely disrupt our business operations, threaten the wellbeing of our employees, clients, and beneficiaries, damage or destroy our assets, and in severe cases, force an organization out of business. The critical question we face is whether we are prepared for such significant events. Are we ready to manage an OSH incident? How do we recover swiftly and effectively from a substantial impact?
The Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner programme is an innovative blended learning initiative designed to develop individual and organizational capabilities to manage OSH incidents effectively, informed by global best practices.
OSHP AS A RISK MANAGEMENT TOOL
OSH incidents are complex challenges that require a manager to be adept not only in their field but also in the effective response to such emergencies. Every year, numerous people and organizations are impacted by OSH incidents. We must assess our preparedness and our ability to respond and manage such situations efficiently.
OSHP AS A DUTY OF CARE INSTRUMENT
Organizations have a duty of care for their workforce and must diligently work to ensure their organizations and staff are prepared for when things go wrong, which includes being ready for an OSH incident. OSHP capacitates organizations to be well-prepared for, and capable of overcoming, OSH incidents.
OSHP AS A BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING TOOL
OSH incidents have the potential to severely disrupt our business operations, threaten the wellbeing of our employees, clients, and beneficiaries, damage or destroy our assets, and in severe cases, force an organization out of business. The critical question we face is whether we are prepared for such significant events.
