The OSHP programme consists of fifteen eLearning modules and is delivered in a fixed sequence, with 10 mandatory modules and 5 electives (one elective to be chosen by the participant), over 75 hours of guided learning (recommended 5 hours for each module). The total qualification time for the OSHP programme is 100 hours. The modules contain multiple diagnostic tests to ascertain comprehension. The modules are self-paced; successful completion is conditional for progress to the next modules in the programme.

The COSHP qualification is assessed in two parts:
Part 1: knowledge assessment via a multiple-choice questions examination, with a total score of 30. To pass the assessment, learners have to achieve a minimum score of 21 (70%).
Part 2: Written assignment which is marked out of 100 points. Learners are required to achieve a minimum of 70% to pass the written assignment.
The programme can be completed over a period of 12 weeks.
